This park was not on my original list, but my mom found it and it wasn't more than 10 minutes off of our planned path, so I added it in. We were a little nervous when we found that it was a dirt road, but Emily did a great job, and it was shorter and in better disrepair than the one the night before!
This park had one single picnic table, so we claimed it for breakfast and lunch assembly! Alice opted to stay in the car.
My mom set out to see the falls, because it was a mile round walk, and I was concerned about time, but she can do a 20-minute mile and wanted to go the distance. It took me most of that time to finish making lunch and cleaning up!
So, here are her pictures.
Once the kids finished, they wanted to meet up with Avia on the path. Since it was a straight shot, I let them go as a group, to meet up with her on her return trip.
We took the sign picture at the end of our trip, and found a frog hanging out by the sign!
My mom said there were lots of stairs to get down to the falls, which means coming back is harder than going, so keep that in mind should you decide to visit!
Alice was our driver for the return trip down the dirt road and on to our next park! She did a great job navigating Ishpeming, but was not a big fan of the circles, so I took over until we made it to the gas station, where I was again struck by how proud Yoopers are of their partial state outline!
Sarah often compares the UP to West Texas (population density, area code, type of person who lives there) and I made myself laugh when I thought that should West Texas ever want to display this kind of pride, the shape would just be a rectangle. lol.
