Murder Mystery Party: Archeology

Back at the start of summer, at our Office Space Party, I had a sign up out for future murder mystery parties, one of which was Archeology.  When my mom first bought this one for me, I was none too excited about it.  It felt boring, but as we she collected things like crates and tools, I got more and more excited!

Once I found the free curbside tables, I started getting proper excited.

Watching Poirot had me shaping my party to feel like one of her portrayed digs.  And since we were due for a murder, it was even more apropos.

The party was at noon on Saturday, so Friday night we went out and set up the difficult and large items.  Anything electronic or delicate spent the night in my car.

It was magical the night before.

Adding the final touches the next morning, we were sadly in direct sunlight!  I couldn't believe it; we needed to be 180 degrees in the other direction!!!  I was trying to avoid the afternoon sun, but didn't consider that the morning sun would not yet be directly overhead at noon! = (

I found an inflatable snake the day before the party to hide in my perfect basket!!!

Since four of my five children were out doing fun things, and Alice was in and out driving people around, she was our photographer in between trips.

She took a lot of pictures for us!

Kim was the daughter of the deceased.
Billy was the Major, but we weren't ever really sure why he was there.
Michael was An American railroader trying to win a contract.
Tabitha was a titled adventuress stopping in for fun.
Natalie was a protégée of the deceased.
Steve was an actor whose benefactor just happened to be the deceased.
I was travelling with my bff, Tabitha.
Mark was the right hand man of the deceased.

In this paragraph I'm going to reveal the murderer.  I am going to pad it with lots and lots of sentences, so that you would have to really want to read who it was to see it, and can't accidentally spoil it, just in case you decide to play this game at another time.  Surprisingly, it was not claimed from the curb, so it might still be available to purchase at the VOA on Cedar.  The murderer was Kim.  She did not like being the murder, which is sad, because it is so fun to be the murderer and try to get people to not pick you.  So now the murder sentence has been padded, and I think I've said all I'll say about that.

In any case, the next picture is the curb, after we moved all the party stuff to the curb, and then I added all of my boxes and boxes of get rid of stuff.

It was a fun party, and I'm glad we did it. I loved the theme after all, and I'm a little sad that it is over, but glad to have all those big containers out of my mudroom!

I only had to take one box and a rug to the thrift store.  I did have to trash the three matching chairs, because they were in rough shape, and no one took them.  They worked for me, it's a shame no one else needed them.

Lansing Oktoberfest!

On a brilliantly warm September Saturday, Billy and I went to the Lansing Oktoberfest.  They had currywurst and all sorts of German slogans!

The first event of the day was a Dachshund race.  It was cute and entertaining!  There were probably 16 contestants. = )

We played some of the freebie games, then went to enjoy the band, from the VIP area.

Billy ran into someone he used to work with, and they were dressed almost identically!!

The Alphörner were really cool to hear, and I'd never seen so many of them in one place!

During the intermission, the table next to us was stacking the empties quite tall!

It was a fun time, and I hope that they do it again next year!

Rob Zombie with the Olmsteds

Labor Day weekend saw us heading East with David and Kristy, to see Rob Zombie in concert.  I was mostly along for the company, but we started out at the Rainforest Cafe, before heading up to the venue!

The four of us shared this massive desert, and it was so good, but we did not finish it!

Our adventure began in the parking lot!

We completely missed the first act, but caught a good portion of The Hu, which were actually my favorite of the night.  They are Mongolian throat singers, and put on quite the show.

Kristy did all the driving, and I think she really enjoyed the concert!  I loved the company for sure!

The cell phone lights were quite pretty in the dusk!

Marilyn Manson had a song that essentially sounded like a cheerleader song, and even I was able to sing along with it by the end!  Both Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie put on quite a show, and ran around like men much younger than they are!

We left a few songs before the end, to beat traffic, but I did get to hear the single Rob Zombie song I knew, from the Matix soundtrack, in the parking lot.  And we did beat most of the traffic!

It was a good time!  I love the venue, and always have fun with Kristy, of course, and Billy was there, so there was so much to enjoy, even if I have never been as angry as that music sounds. lol.  I told Kristy, next time we need to hit up a country concert!
