Marching Band

We only have one more football game before the season is mostly wrapped up!  They will still march in the Silver Bells Parade, but only one more Friday night for this year!  Emily has loved every minute of it!

Molly was still working on bedazzling her custom uniform for the season, so for this early game Emily was wearing one that Molly had in her closet.

For Senior Night, Molly ordered "Haven tattoos" for everyone to wear, but sadly only 12 came instead of 14.  I think Haven still felt pretty special even with just Emily, Molly, and Katie wearing them.

I think this was the night I finally finished sewing all the new appliques onto the uniforms!

Seeing Alice's discarded tag from long ago made me sad all over again. = (

Sporting her custom uniform for the first time!  It was so shiny under the stadium lights!!

Emily and Kyla like to do the dances with one hand each. It's entertaining for sure!

And on this night, Emily got a HOCOposal from Malichai!  It was so sweet!  She was very surprised (and so was I!)

She said yes, of course!

Alice has been working as a volunteer at the football games for community service hours, and the Junior drum major always come over to say hi to Alice, since they have health together.  I'm so thankful for her!

Goofing around before Molly reminded Emily how delicate the beadwork is!

Homecoming, with even more shinies!

Full hands after halftime!

It's been a wonderful season watching Emily do what she loves! I'm so excited for next week, since she will be out there with all three of her younger siblings for light show!!!  Emily is also slated for a fire baton, and I can't wait to see it!

I've also chatted with Molly about maybe starting the twins on batons, to see if they have a proclivity for it, and then I could have three twirlers on the field when they start high school!  William is not completely sold on marching band, but luckily, his first year is a band trip year, and I think he will be all in. Time will tell, who knows what the future will bring!

Band: Marching Season!

Marching season is in full swing, and Emily is loving it!  It's pretty late when she gets out of practice on Wednesday nights, 8:30, but this time of year that means beautiful sunsets!

On the first day of school, I stayed at practice with her and sewed five patches onto the guard uniforms, and managed two more before the first football game (on a Thursday?)  but didn't take any pictures of my handiwork, so here's my smiling Emily holding my tools as we left.

As I just mentioned, the first football game was on a Thursday night, which made Friday feel off, but the night was fair and warm!

The drum major runs along the band asking if each section is ready.  Since Emily is alone in her section, she answers alone.

Emily is at the very front!

The night was exciting, though Holt was losing for most of the game.  The final quarter was a good one, despite being a loss.

The light up batons will be switched out for fire at the light show!  Emily has some practicing to do before then though!

I think they were doing the wave?  Just having fun on the track during the third quarter!

Football season is so exciting!  Emily did a great job, and I love volunteering so that I can watch her up close!  I'm also happy that all the other games are on Friday nights!

Friday Night Lights

Emily has loved color guard this year!  She's all smiles, even when being dropped off for practice!  Her favorite time though, has most definitely been the Friday night football games.  Band doesn't travel with the football team here, so each week, the band plays the opponents' fight song at the start of the game. With only four home games this year, Emily is soaking up the fun!

Game 1: They won!

This was a windy and chilly game, so coats were worn intermittently.

Game 2: Homecoming, they lost. = (

This game was much warmer, no one really needed their jackets.

I've volunteered to work the past two games, because last year I worked a game for Alice and a band camp day.  When it was Emily's turn for band camp, I had to cancel my volunteer slot, because we left for Poland, so she got two football games. = )  I will admit, I do enjoy being down on the track with my Emily and her friends!
