School Events

During parent teacher conference week, I was able to volunteer to work the bookfair, which meant that I drove the three little ones to school one morning, and picked them up one afternoon. They were big fans of that. 

When I signed up for parent teacher conferences, I didn't realize that I could only sign up for 12 times per email.  So, my timeslots were off, because I had selected them and the timer hadn't timed out for them while I was trying to sign up! Ahhhhhh.  I'll know for the spring.  I digress.  I try to put five minutes in between each meeting, in case they are running behind (and they tend to,) and between that and scheduling double appointments for the twins, we ended up with a huge chunk of time at the end of the night.  So, the twins did some posing in the cool bench they never have time to sit on during the school day!

Spirit week once again had Adam Sandler day, so Emily borrowed some of Billy's clothes to rock the look.

Grace was trying out her outfit for 2000s day.  She looked adorable, but I totally forgot to snap a picture the next morning.  Juliet also looked cute!

William's math teacher gives extra credit to students who create the most creative craft out of their finished math workbook at the end of the unit.  William's friend had made a paper chain, and he wasn't sure if he could best that, but was happy to try and make the origami swan garland.  He isn't certain if he will get points too, since they are in different classes, but his teacher did put the swans up under the paper chain, so maybe?

Emily made plans to get ready with her friends, then meet up with her homecoming date, none of which I was present for, since we'd already made plans with the Corniches, but thankfully there were plenty of pictures that she was able to share with me after the fact!  These were my favorites.

She said that she had a great time, and it sure does look like it!  Next year, she'll be able to drive herself, and split her time between even more friends! lol

Spirit Week!

Alice and the twins participated in Spirit week for Homecoming!  

Monday was PJ day for both schools, so I took no pictures, but all three participated. ; )

Tuesday was twin day for Alice, but she failed to coordinate with her friends, so she twinned with Juliet. (Juliet was not yet awake, but Alice wanted a picture with the outfit that she'd laid out to wear.)

For the twins it was one color day!  Grace was pink, pink, pink!  Juliet wore a one piece to make sure that it was truly one color. = )

Wednesday was Adam Sandler* Day for Alice.

And hat day for the twins!

Thursday was separated into classes, who were each assigned a season.  Alice's class was assigned winter, so she wanted to channel her inner Elsa.  The Elsa costume from many, many years ago, was repurposed into a cape**, and se used some face paint to enhance the winter look.  

I don't recall what Thursday was for the twins, and I failed to snap a picture!  Maybe backwards day?

Friday was school spirit day for all three of them.  Alice dug out an old hoodie set that she's had forever! And the twins wore last year's robotics shirt.  

When Avia arrived, she was also in maroon, as was Billy, and I was in my maroon shirt too!  Emily was disappointed that she'd missed the memo. ; )

I think Emily and William have one more week until their spirit week.  I don't know if I'll add them here or make a new post.  We'll see.

 *Alice came home telling me all about how it was Sam Adams day, and that there were all sorts of memes of him, and I was thinking how creative, it's like revolutionary day!  But when we looked up Sam Adams memes, she remembered that it was Adam Sandler, which, no offense to him, is far less cool.

**Super impressed with Alice's creativity this week!

School Spirit Days

As part of reading month, the grades were put in competition with one another to see who could read the most minutes!  Grace and her Friend Luna checked out the same books from the library so that they could read together via video call!  And, at the end of the month, the fourth graders were the best read!

There were events during the month, like pajama day, but the favorite for the twins was creating their duckling and pigeon masks.

Juliet made Grace (the duckling) a cookie that looked a lot like the book version. = )

On the morning of, they looked pretty good! = )

William was the only one of the big kids who dressed up for vacation day, because the newsletter that came home was confusing since it was for both high school and middle school, which is unusual.  Emily actually stayed home one of the days because she wasn't feeling well.

There were two travel days, so on day two William dressed up as a skier! 

 Nothing quite like spirit days for my crew to get creative, at the very last minute! ; )

Feeling the Christmas Spirit!

Once our tree was up, I went to Sarah's to get the collection of presents that had been accumulating there since January!!

With my hearty collection of reusable bags, wrapping was actually very fast!  I only had to wrap a few presents with paper. 

And, as of today, the 23rd of December, I did not have to take any paper from the rolls!  We had enough left over from years past to wrap everything under the tree, and the few* wrapped gifts we gave away!  

Grace helped me assemble the Christmas cards this year!  It was a 2-in-1 card this year.  Last year I was late in making my card, and the sales had already ended.  I wasn't willing to pay full price for the cards, so I just waited until this year to mail out two in one! The backside of the picture below was the newsletter from last year.

I'm not sure why I was so late last year, since I had taken the time to type up each individual address to print onto Avery labels, so I was a bit sad to not use them.  Either way, it made mailing cards much quicker this year with printed labels for both outgoing and return addresses!!!

My kids dressed up for each day of spirit week.  It's such a rush for the big kids in the morning, that I don't have a chance to get a picture of them!

The twins are a little easier, because I can snap their pictures at school, on days that I'm working, which was the case on Artic animal day!

When I collected the Christmas gifts from Sarah's basement, I took the time to evaluate the remainder of what I have stored in her basement.  I cleaned out quite a bit, leaving only murder mystery party decorations and instruments with dates, and our annual Scooby doo day collection. = )  

This seems unrelated, but I'll tie it in by adding that one of the boxes I cleaned out was the zoo box, with all of our animal print goodies.  As soon as Grace saw it, she claimed all of the goodies just to wear on this day!

William made a very cool Christmas tree ornament in art class!

On Thursday, all three of the big kids got up early to put extra time into their "Christmas Character" outfit.  This gave me time to take a picture before we ran out the door!  Emily went as Cindy Lou Who.  Her hair lasted until 3rd period she said!  Alice came home less blue than her morning representation of the abominable snowman.  And Willim went as an elf! = )

The twins' Thursday dress up theme was "hats."  They dug out the flapping hats that Alice and Emily got for Nikolasstiefel a few years ago.

It's been a fun month of preparing for Christmas!
