Stop 11.
The sun was setting by the time we made it to FJ McLain state park. They gave us a warning that the park was closing in an hour, which was 10pm!
At this point in the trip, I still had it in my head that we could go to the remaining three parks on the list, even though we hadn't been swimming, so we rushed through this park, not even walking down to the beach. It is the park with my biggest regrets. We should have called it at this park, taken out our blacklights and searched for the Yooper stones!
As it was, we saw this tiny lighthouse from afar, took just a few pictures and loaded right back up.
As we headed to the next park, my mom found that it was closed for repairs, which meant we couldn't go in anyhow, but we still wanted to stop for a picture, so back across the Portage Lake bridge we went, with Billy at the wheel!
