78 Michigan Parks: Port Crescent State Park #47

Our next stop was at Port Crescent State Park.  This park offered dark sky preserve stargazing, just like Lake Hudson State Park.

We followed the path into the dunes, after playing in the mostly empty parking lot first!

It was just enough of a trek, that the first view of the beach was exhilarating.

I spy some twins who went in a bit far and a wave caught them by surprise!  The temperatures in this region were much warmer than earlier in the day when we were at Lakeport.

But it was still too cold for my skinny boy to venture into the surf to play.

It was a short visit, despite sunlight lasting until at least 10pm, we were running out of it!

On our way back to the car, we saw dune flora and fauna.

Caterpillars!

The caterpillars were wreaking havoc on the young trees. = (

Since our next stop was our final park, the girls took the opportunity to change into their swimsuits before we left.  I went to check out the cool viewing platform while waiting.

Free binoculars, with which I did successfully spy some birds flying about!

I bet the stars are awfully pretty at night!

I sincerely hope to make it back to this area soon, because it was charming and lovely!  It would be a pleasure to stay there for a few days and take in all the local offerings!
