Robotics

Robotics Season is coming to a close for Alice, but we are still in the midst of competitions.

Close to a month ago we went down to Mason for a pre competition meet.  It wasn't long and there were maybe four or five teams in attendance.  Sadly, the robot had some setbacks, like dropping the battery at the start of the match.

Alice was there to support her team, which is all CAD members can do when it comes to competiton.

So, the first time I got to see the robot in action was in Midland a few weekends ago.  I realize it looks like I'm taking a picture of the guy's #26 shirt, but he was just blocking my ideal view of the robot. ; )  6078!

Each time they would compete, I went to sit next to Alice who was taking her task of 'scouting' very seriously!  This was actually the second day of the competition.  Alice didn't want to miss classes on Friday for day one, which I think is a noble enough reason.

At one of their fundraisers, they had a 3D print of the field, with a model of the robot(?) in the middle.

I found a brown curtain panel at the thrift store, which might be able to cover the end of the food table in the cafeteria, with the emblem on the end, or on the side of the table in the pit. Even at the largest setting, the embroidery was quite small.  Additionally, I forgot to take a finished product picture!  I'll try to remember to snap one tomorrow, if they have it out on the food table.  Should I embroider it a third time, I would use the flat embroidery on the entire design, not just the gear, which was too large for the raised embroidery.

I also tried a hat for the first time, but broke two needles and couldn't get the embroidery positioned low enough.  Maybe one day I'll try again, but probably not any time soon.

later days
