Wrapping up Robotics Season

Alice's final robotics meet was at Mason.  We didn't know it at the time, because there was a chance they could go to state from Mason, but it didn't happen this year.*

For the most part, Alice hung out with me in the cafeteria, instead of going to be with her team.  When I sent her to help in the pit, she would go, do what they asked and then come back.  For two days!

On my part, I had time to finish up the headphones that I started down in Milford.

I also found time during the week to embroider the robotics logo on a panel for the table!

There is such an excitement at these events,

but Alice wasn't feeling it.

I made her come watch the matches that her robot was in.

But it was a long enough weekend, that I had time to finish a second pair of headphones!

At the end of Sunday, when it was almost over, we split some cotton candy.  It matched her headphones!

It's been just a little while since this happened, so I don't remember exactly, but I think maybe her team was brought in for the first round of playoffs, but lost, and lost the loser bracket too. = /

---------

The first weekend of summer they held a robotics rummage sale.  Emily and Juliet helped set up on day one, while I priced things.  They had tons of stuff.  But they rushed me out the door a bit because it was time to get Emily to a sleepover, and then collect Kennedy for a sleepover here.

On Sunday, Alice and William came to help break it down, since they both need volunteer hours. Grace came to shop 'for free' and left with a typewriter.

I was sore and tired afterwards, both days! Way more physical activity than I am accustomed. It sounded like it was a successful fundraiser!

In a few years, I'm hoping that William will keep his excitement surrounding all things robotics, and will enjoy the team as much as most of the kids on the high school team seem to!

later days

*Since Alice was forced into doing robotics, by not signing up for other things, it was a relief for me, because I didn't have to fight her to go 5 days a week any longer. And it freed up some weekends too!  I was sad for the team seniors though; they were sad to end on a loss.
