Last summer, Emily went with Abby's family to Greenfield village, but the rest of the family had never been. So, when we learned that the twins would be going, my mom also signed up to join us as a chaperone!
Because it is a bit of a drive, and all of the school busses have to be back by 2, the fifth-grade teachers scheduled charter busses for our trip!
Talk about posh!
It was a chilly trip, so we were all in our coats, and I had on my hat and gloves, but it was a very cool experience! My mom was technically only in charge of Juliet, and I had Grace and Kennedy, and Jennifer was in charge of Lily, so our three groups pretty much just navigated the park together!
The goslings have gotten so big!!!
And so have my babies! <3
They were interested in this basement entrance for some reason.
This bird was so still, and let us get so close, that I thought it was fake!
We didn't have an opportunity to take the train (because I refuse to download and app to pay for something at a tourist attraction, and the cash ticket station was on the other side of the village.*)
Thomas Edison's Lab was my mom's number one destination, so we went there first!
The first house with indoor electricity was way cool.
Toll prices to use the bridge. I guess somethings never change.
We saw a turtle from the bridge entrance!
The Ford logo landscaped onto a hill was huge!
Pretty early into our trip, we paused for lunch. We were not rushed, but did feel the pressure to move on, since we didn't have long to explore.
I took some pictures of prices and food offerings, where I could, just so we could prepare ourselves when we come as a family.

This cottage was my absolute favorite! I adored all of the details.
Fireplace number one.
Fireplace number two, even bigger!
A 'grace sized' door!
The oven from the inside.
The outside of the oven.

Looking up the chimney.
Side view of the fireplace.
Even the landscaping was delightful.
An unmarked outbuilding of the cottage. No idea what it does, but it sure is cute!
While I appreciate Webster's vision, why oh why didn't he just kick the c from the alphabet and keep the k?

I don't know what the original view looked like, but this view was particularly pleasing too! And the light in the room was just gorgeous, even on a cloudy day.
I think the restaurant is called "Taste of History."
They have a patio, which I bet is lovely on warm summer days. This day was not one of them though.
So many things to do when we come back as a family!

Emily said that this restriction was not in place when she went, so I guess they were using it as crowd control?
By the time we made it back to the shops it was almost time to leave, but they had time to stop and buy a treat! The cotton candy balls were almost as big as their heads!
Such a pretty place to visit!
While we have no immediate plans, I do look forward to going back with more time, and hopefully in better weather!
later days
*the term village feels like a bit of a misnomer, as this place is massive!
